SYDNEY – A man has died following a stabbing in the inner suburbs of Melbourne.
The police said that emergency services were called to reports of a man injured at a property in Ascot Vale, 6 km northwest of central Melbourne, at about 4 a.m. local time on Saturday.
Officers arrived at the scene and discovered a man with injuries consistent with a stabbing.
The man, who has not been formally identified, died at the scene.
A second man was arrested at the property and will be interviewed by detectives.
“It appears at this stage, the people involved are known to each other,” a police statement said. “A crime scene has been established and the investigation remains ongoing.”
Pictures published by News Corp Australia newspapers showed forensic investigators attending the scene and police interviewing neighbors.
